Nestled in the heart of Marlow, The Mixing Jug at Liston Court is not just your average coffee & juice bar – it's a place where creativity, community, and compassion come together in a unique blend. As the proud holder of the 9 of Hearts in the Ace Marlow playing cards, The Mixing Jug has introduced a special smoothie to celebrate. Enter the "9 of Hearts Smoothie" – as shown on their playing card, a pink delight crafted from nine carefully selected ingredients, promising a flavour explosion in every sip. What's more, 25p from each smoothie sold goes to support the Longridge Activity Centre in Quarry Wood Rd, Marlow.
A Blend to Boost:
Greg Gabriel is the visionary behind The Mixing Jug and carefully curated the 9 of Hearts Smoothie. This pink elixir boasts the sweetness of fresh strawberries, the creaminess of bananas, the tartness of red and black currants, the burst of blueberries, the richness of blackberries, and the zing of raspberries. To bring it all together, oat mylk provides a smooth and delightful base. This harmonious blend promises to captivate the taste buds with each flavourful sip.
A Heartfelt Cause:
Beyond the culinary experience, The Mixing Jug is committed to giving back to the community. With every 9 of Hearts Smoothie purchased, 25p will be donated to the Longridge Activity Centre. This follows on from the Ace Marlow playing cards choosing Longridge as the official charity for the pack with 25p from every pack sold across Marlow also supporting this much-loved outdoor activity centre.
As a result, so far over £900 has been raised from the Ace Marlow playing cards alone and donations from the 9 of hearts smoothie will take this to over £1,000.
The Longridge Connection:
Longridge Activity Centre, situated on the outskirts of Marlow, holds a special place in the hearts of the locals. Greg Gabriel, from the Mixing Jug said “We’re not just a coffee & juice bar; it’s a hub for wellness in Marlow. The 9 of Hearts Smoothie symbolises unity, promoting both health and community, through its contribution to this inspiring local mission at Longridge.”
Emma Sweet, who had the idea for the Marlow playing cards which launched in November said "This delightful concoction is more than just a beverage; it's a celebration of community, creativity, and compassion. I felt it was important that the Marlow playing cards had a donation to a local charity from every pack sold and I was delighted when Greg liked the idea of creating a smoothie in honour of the cards too. By working together it raises more money for Longridge and Marlow residents get the added benefit of a healthy smoothie to enjoy.”
How to Get Involved:
Visitors and locals are invited to join The Mixing Jug's celebration of community spirit. By choosing the 9 of Hearts Smoothie, customers not only treat themselves to a delightful beverage but also actively participate in enhancing the well-being of the Marlow community. It's not just a drink; it's an opportunity to make a positive impact. Longridge is currently badly affected by the recent flooding with two buildings so damaged they will have to be demolished so support for this cherished activity centre is needed more than ever.
Amanda Foister, CEO of Longridge Activity Centre said "Marlow Playing Cards are a beautiful way of promoting our lovely town and we are very proud to be the 2024 charity. We hope this will not just help us reach our funding target but will also encourage new members of our wonderful community to use our unique facilities.”
Greg added “Everyone is welcome to come down with their Marlow playing cards and enjoy a game or two whilst they sip their smoothie, coffee or bite to eat. The playing cards are also for sale for those who don’t have a pack yet”.
